Versus the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 compared top. Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2. The XF 56mm f/1.2 is less expensive and only half the weight. It takes 62mm rather than 77mm filters. It's ⅔ of a stop slower, missing the whole point of this f/1.0 lens, but only ⅔ the price. Close focus is the same 2.3 feet of 0.7 meters.
The first thing you'll notice is the smaller size of the blobs from the 50mm f2 on the right, a limitation of its smaller aperture. But look at the differences in the style of the rendering, in particular between the 50mm f1 and 56mm f1.2, where the 56mm renders much sharper edges to its blobs, often with a distracting lining as a result.
The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens does not feature image stabilization. Omitting the optical stabilization system reduces the size, weight, complexity, and cost, and the ultra-wide f/1.4 aperture feature aptly handles many low-light scenarios. Still, image stabilization is a very useful feature.
